Statement of Purpose

This international group provides outreach, education and support to people in relationships with others affected by borderline personality disorder and/or other psychiatric disorders. These relationships may be affected by the psychological and physical mistreatment caused by the disorders, and YBRT Inc is chartered to provide support to those individuals.

Outreach is focused on contacting this target population primarily over the Internet with the long-range goal of expanding existing small community groups into an international network. Education is offered to all family members, with a concentration in promoting self-awareness and coping strategies. These strategies address both immediate and long-term living situations of subscribers as well as that of any children or elderly persons in their care.

Support and self-help are provided by peers. Educational seminars will be provided to the therapeutic, legal and other communities, with the goal of providing an awareness of critical issues among those groups.

Because historically, this target population is isolated by the effects of the disorder in their relationship, the group will be encouraged to plan and attend an annual international gathering where they may reenter an abuse-free social environment with their peers. Financial or other assistance may be provided to those who would otherwise be unable to attend.

This is a volunteer organization. Directors serve without compensation except for direct expenses. While the organization may associate itself with commercial enterprises from time to time to advance its public purpose, the organization itself has no commercial or profit-making purpose.

YBRT Inc has been qualified as a tax exempt, publicly supported non-profit corporation under Sections 501(c)(3) under section 509 of the Internal Revenue Code. Copies of the Internal Revenue Service ruling are available on request.
